💰 $7.9 Million Grant Lands in Herkimer Co. + New Tax Rules for Short-Term Rentals + 315 Holiday Events this Week.

Frankfort’s Business Center gets a major boost for advanced manufacturing. Also inside: Oneida County's new 5% occupancy tax for Airbnbs/VRBOs starts 2026.

If you own property and use it for short-term rentals like Airbnb or VRBO, you’ll need to register with Oneida County to collect an additional 5% occupancy tax, on top of the 8.75% sales tax. Starting January 1, 2026, each short-term rental will be added to a registry. The taxes should be applied to help promote tourism in Oneida County. Per the new law, all registered properties must display the county’s registration number on all listings.

$7.9 Million was awarded to the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency as part of a $100 million FAST NY grant for the 2026 fiscal year. The funds will be used for the Central New York Business Center, strategically located in Frankfort with access to highways, making it an excellent choice for new industrial facilities. The investment will help to upgrade or build key infrastructure to make the tract shovel-ready for advanced manufacturing.

From its humble beginning out of a garage in 1975 to the area’s top battery shop, we congratulate Yorkville Battery for serving the area.

The Food Bank of CNY will be at the Great Swamp Conservancy parking lot on December 16 at 3 PM to distribute food boxes to those in need. Families and all those in need are welcome with no income requirements. Use the Pine Ridge Rd entrance to line up.

On December 20 at 8:30 AM, F.I. Training is holding a public workout and fundraiser for Clinton Central School student and athlete Gavin Mosher. Gavin, now 15, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. A portion of the funds will go towards Gavin’s medical expenses.
