Fall is ramping up, and the apple cider is flowing. Winter is just around the corner, and it’s time to start planning your winter family activities. Let us know if you have an event coming up to celebrate winter or the holidays.

🥨 Around the 315: OKTOBERFEST in the 315 🍺

Oktoberfest is more than just beer and bratwurst—it’s a worldwide celebration of Bavarian culture that brings people together for music, food, dancing, and community spirit. Traditionally held in Munich, the festival has grown into a global phenomenon, with towns and cities across the world hosting their own versions. Whether it’s stein-hoisting contests, live polka, or simply enjoying a soft pretzel with friends, Oktoberfest is all about kicking back and savoring the season.

Here in Central New York and the Mohawk Valley, Oktoberfest has become a beloved fall tradition. From Syracuse’s bustling downtown to Utica’s legendary beer halls, and all the way up to Old Forge in the Adirondacks, our communities know how to put their own spin on Bavarian fun. Local breweries, community groups, and family-friendly venues come together each autumn to keep the spirit alive—blending authentic German flair with plenty of hometown pride. Here’s a roundup of this year’s Oktoberfest events happening across the region:

🍻 Oktoberfest at Saranac’s 1888 Biergarten (Utica)

Sept 20, Sept 27 & Oct 4 | 12–8 PM
Utica’s beloved Saranac Brewery hosts three weekends of Bavarian fun, each with its own theme. Expect live music, yodeling contests, trivia, games like stein races and barrel rolling, plus plenty of pretzels and beer. Family- and dog-friendly!

🎶 Wolff’s Biergarten Oktoberfest (Syracuse – Clinton Square)

Sat, Oct 4 | 11 AM–6 PM
Downtown Syracuse turns into a Bavarian village with bratwurst, schnitzel, and German beer on tap. Enjoy polka from Fritz’s Polka Band, local vendors, and even wiener-dog races. Free and open to all ages.

🌲 Old Forge Oktoberfest (Old Forge – Herkimer County)

Fri, Sept 26 | 6–9 PM & Sat, Sept 27 | 12–5 PM
Celebrate autumn in the Adirondacks with live music, hay rides, German food and beer, and plenty of family fun. Admission is $10 at the North Street Pavilion. Costumes encouraged!

🌱 Vegtoberfest (Syracuse – Harvey’s Garden)

Sat, Oct 11 | 2–8 PM
A vegan-friendly twist on Oktoberfest featuring plant-based food, craft vendors, local beer, games, and live entertainment. Hosted at Harvey’s Garden on East Water Street. Free admission and family-friendly.
