It’s Time to Plan Fall Foliage Daytrips. Chicken BBQs this Weekend. What’s Happening 315

Edition 20 - September 9 to September 15

We had a pretty busy week. The kids went back to school. Adjusting to waking up early for the bus again. However, amidst the chaos, we attended the 2025 Golden Harvest Festival at the Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville. We recommend marking it on your calendar for next year and checking out our Reel on Instagram.

Speaking of festivals, the Remsen Barn Fest is coming up on September 27 through 28. It’s a great opportunity to shop local, hear great music, and get some great food. We’ll be there, so maybe you’ll make our socials.

As the summer winds down, we’ll continue to send our newsletter with plenty to do in the area. We’re expanding our reach, exploring more of the Syracuse, Fulton, and Oswego areas to help find even more to do in the 315. Share our newsletter, send in your events, and let’s build a community.

Around the 315: Fall Foliage Trip Planning

Ot’s that time. Closing the pool down, wrapping up the last couple of good BBQ weekends, and putting on our hoodies for autumn bonfires. While apple picking, covered last week, is a huge fall pastime in Upstate, there is another popular way to ring in the end of summer—leaf peeping.

If you live in the 315, you have a huge advantage. We’re at the foothills of the Adirondacks. Next door to the Finger Lakes. Along the Thousand Islands. Finally, just north of the Catskills. While each destination makes the perfect day trip or a romantic weekend getaway, you’ll need to know when to go to get the best pics for Instagram this year.

While we focus on the 315, we’ll give the rundown on great spots around Upstate NY to check out the fall foliage.

October 1 - 7:
Adirondack and Catskill high peaks.

October 8 - 14:
Adirondacks: Most of the preserve, including Old Forge, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, Ticonderoga, etc.
Catskills: Most of the park, including Peekamoose, Phoenicia, Delhi, etc.
Central NY/Mohawk Valley: Camden, Cooperstown, Dolgeville, etc.

October 15 - 21:
Adirondacks and Northern NY: Plattsburgh, Ausable Chasm, Malone, and most of Northern NY.
Capital Region: Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls.
Central NY/Mohawk Valley: The majority of the region, including Utica, Sylvan Beach, Cortland, etc.
Finger Lakes Region: Naples, Letchworth State Park.
Southern Tier: Most of the region, including Corning.

October 22 - 28:
Adirondacks and Northern NY: Lake George, Alexandria Bay, Clayton, etc.
Capital Region and Hudson Valley: Albany, Amenia, and Kerhonkson.
Catskills: Woodstock and Saugerties.
Central NY and Mohawk Valley: Oswego, Auburn, Syracuse.
Finger Lakes Region: Penn Yan, Geneva, Ithaca, and Watkins Glen.
Southern Tier: Binghamton and Elmira.
Western NY: Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Rochester.

October 29 - November 4:
Seneca Falls, Fredonia, Irondequoit.

There are plenty of options for the fall-loving, leaf-peeping, cider-loving people out there. Don’t forget to tag us in your Instagram posts so we can share with everyone and help find great little gems in NY.

Help Support Those Who Support the Community

Volunteer fire departments across the area hold yearly fundraisers to help with training, equipment, and other operational costs that municipal and state funding don’t cover. If you want to help while getting a great meal, then VFD chicken BBQs are for you.

There are two you can check out this weekend to help support volunteer fire departments.

  • The Maynard Fire Department will hold its chicken BBQ on Saturday at noon. The NYSP will be there offering free car seat checks, too.

  • The Schuyler volunteer fire department will hold its chicken BBQ on Sunday at 12 PM.
