📰 The 315 Community Chronicles

The Mowhawk Valley Water Authority proposed a 2% rate hike for the 2026 budget. This could add $0.80 per month to each household. According to a WKTV interview, the funds are needed for equipment maintenance and an increase in contributions to the state's shared retirement fund for employees.

For the first time in 13 years, Oneida County Executive Piacente is proposing a 2.9% property tax increase. Piacente states the hike will help maintain essential services and help combat financial pressure from New York State and the Federal government.

📈 315 Business and Restaurant News

Universal Bookkeeping is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special ribbon-cutting by the Utica and Rome Chamber of Commerce. The firm has brought a new spin on accounting. The ribbon-cutting will be held on October 30th at 3 PM at 14 Genesse St., New Hartford.

We have several great restaurant announcements this month. First, Castlewood Cafe is expanding into the old Ponderosa building in New Hartford. They will serve the same great breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. They are looking at a possible January opening.

With a sale pending and waiting on planning board notes, Tully’s, a famous chicken tender restaurant, may open its first Oneida County location at the old UNO location at The Orchard in New Hartford. We checked, and the location shows “pending sale,” and there are no notes on New Hartford’s site yet.

For all the coffee lovers, Latte Love, the area's famous coffee truck, is opening its brick-and-mortar location in New Hartford. According to its Instagram, the location will open in the Big Apple Plaza on November 20th. We will be there shortly after opening to get our fill.

🤝 315 Community Spotlight

On October 28th, at 5 PM, head to Chipotle in New Hartford to help support New Hartford Spartan baseball. 25% of sales go towards the Spartan fundraiser.

The Bosnian American Community Association will hold its annual fundraiser on October 30th, at 6 PM at Hart’s Hill Inn, Whitesboro. Tickets are $50/person with a cash bar. You’ll enjoy food, Bosnian culture, and guest speakers.

Shop local arts and crafts on November 1st, at 10 am, for the 2026 Little Falls High School Craft Fair, at the high school. Help support the class of 2026 while supporting local businesses.

Hoosey’s Dog House in Syracuse is hosting the 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off to help support RescueLove, a small shelter for rescue dogs. The cook-off is on November 1st, starting at 3 pm. Check the link if you want to participate.
